What's the Max XP memory ( 4GB ? )

Hi All,

Quick question, I am under the immpression that XP Pro could handle a lot more than 2x512 P133 RAM which is what I am using already in RH9 Linux. I have googled the subject and found that apparently it can handle 4GB of memory???? but it appears to fold up when I insert the second 512 module  and presents me with the all too common "blue screen of death".

All help appreciated.

:Pengy:

You might need to up the memory voltage to the ram. I had the same thing over and over then i found out that i needed to increase the voltage by .2 volts and that stopped BSOD for me at least.

Thanks BajaNick only trouble is I aint entirely sure how that is done. Is is through the BIOS. Thanks for your help.

Yea in the bios, if your motherboard supports memory overclocking and volt mods but check the specs on the memory your installing first to see what its volt requirements are. If you overclock it like .1 or .2 volts you shouldnt damage the dimms but I woulndt go any higher until you check the memory specs. If that dosnt make the blue screen go away then it could be bad memory or your mixing up dimms that are not compatible. Heres a really cool site that you can get some good hardware help at.http://forums.devhardware.com/index.php?
