Well, my printer's on fire..


Well, what do you know, after printing a couple of pages today, with my Epson styllus color 900, it refused to print anymore. Linux kernel, being helpful like always, kindly pointed out in /var/log/messages.
"Oct 5 19:18:03 Slackbox kernel: lp0 on fire"
Very, very nice huh...

yes that is a legacy error from the days of unix when printers did burst on fire

now a days it just means you are getting unrecognized errors

Gotta love UNIX programmer humor I think what the error means is that something went wrong, and the program doesn't know what. I found this post which offers a brief explanation.

And no, I don't think printers ever really did burst into flames. It's just a joke; always has been.

actually some did... hell you still get recall now a days for printers that pose a fire risk...
