Wasup Bill?
Now everybody knows Bill Gates and a lot of us dont like him (including me) My reason - Dirty business practices and needs to support the people more than his $$$$. I mean, the guy is what, the richest man in the world?! He could probably let his guard down and help the world and the people for once.
anyways. what is your opinion on billy?

How is this related to Liunux? Moved to General forum as it doesn't belong in Linux - General.

Might want to check out this article. Like him or not, turns out Bill is the largest charitable donor in the US.

I adore Bill Gates for his entrepreneurship and his charitable nature.
I mean you gotta admit, for all the flaws Windows have, it's still the most used OS despite there are much better alternatives that are free. Eventhough their code might be of poor quality, there must be something that they are doing right.
And anyway... Bill Gates != Microsoft... So, hate the company... not the man

Yeah, I hate the company, not the man. I have a lot of respect for Gates, because you have to be smart in some way if you can become the world's first centi-billionaire(albeit shortly, but what the heck).

Too true, Johnleemk and Amzeen. There is another thread floating around somewhere about Mr Gate's charitable donations. As I have already said, I have no qualm with the Man. I have no qualm with some areas of the Company (they do make some quite good hardware). I realise that the Company are only doing what any large company would do in their shoes - trying to hold on to a dominant position. I do, however have major problems with their OS.

I don't hate Bill as I don't know him personally. I don't hate M$ either, just don't like the way they conduct business most of the time. Ahh well..

Apparently, the Billgatron intends to donate effectively all his personal wealth to charities before he keels over. If so, he's a modern day Robin Hood ! I don't use windows by choice, but I am mellowing to Bill.

Actually I think its still Ted Turner who holds that record. 1 Billion to the U.N. over a 10 year period.

Anyways lets not forget that he is the one behind Microsoft.
Maybe in real life(for some things) he's a good person, but heck, he tried(and still tries) to monopolize the computer market(buying concurents, threathening computer builders so they only sell windows with their comps, etc)...
He has good/bad sides, let's evaluate and not forget them!

I don't like how they do certain things sometimes. I like Windows, and I like the man (what I know of him).
Peace,
Whitehat

I was under the impression that Bill and Melinda topped that with the aid to Africa and the Gates foundation. I could be wrong though, I rarely pay attention to him, even though he is from my State and all.
I may not like Windows, but you have to admit it is still about the best gaming OS around, and some of the Microsoft game line rules. Take Combat Flight Simulator or Age of Empires (or Mythology). MS is not ALL bad, they just get a little (or a lot) crooked from time to time.
