Moved: This thread is more suitable in General and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

Create free space and then install Vista to said free space.

Or were you thinking of doing it some other way?

what about GRUB

gparted would partition your HD just fine. Try to download a distro, like Ubuntu, which has such a tool on their LiveCD (Ubuntu is a LiveCD, which can be installed on your HD as well).

Forget about GRUB. Windows will rip it out right away and there's nothing you can do about that. MS assumes that Windows is always the only operating systems on a computer and will overwrite your bootloader. Again, you can fix that with a LiveCD and a little search in this forum (again, I recommend Ubuntu).

In fact, I would recommend you to use Ubuntu all the way. You do know that Redhat 9.0 is very, very old and unsupported right? In fact, its release date was 2003/03/31, and the way Open-source moves fast, you are very, very behind, like Win95 ^_^

XP running, install Vista DVD, select install & let it run. Probably screw up all Lin

Which Vista do U already have beta 2 (5384) or RC1 (5586?)?
Which version of the 5 Vistas do U intend to run? Ultimate needs ~15GB free space if b2, not know RC1.
When U boot Windows U will see
Earlier version of Windows
Microsoft Windows

To access XP pick the 1st (Earlier)

Naj, R U on DT or LT?? Specs; CPU/Mainboard/RAM/Video Card (aka GPU) etc.
Do you have another HD to use? If so clean install XP w/SP2 {~8GB}
(or do U need to add SP2?). Then install Vista {~15GB}. Then install your favorite Linux Distribution. Boot options= Linux, Windows (C above)
My only caution is some Linux may interpret the XP & Vista as a Windows or BIOS RAID setup [Suse 10.1 says BIOS sometimes], just ignore it and partition HD remainder as desired. Do not allow linux 'Use entire HD'.
I have a RHEL3 CD1 that reads my XP, Ult, Suse partitions OK, Maybe RH9 OK.

btw, I tried shared page file for XP, Vista; not working so good=Avoid. GL d8d
