Walmart promises in "Bowling for Columbine"
Hey there,
In my studies I attend an English Conversation course and today we watched Michael Moore's "Bowling for Columbine" in order to have something to talk about. It's not the first time I've seen it and each time my suspecting mind stumbles over the scene where Michael Moore together with those two victims of Columbine went to Walmart headquarters to return the bullets. The film shows the official announcement of a Walmart PR-woman that they want to stop selling handgun ammunition within the next 90 days. What the film does not show is whether they actually did that or not. I really hope that they did that but I have doubts and unfortunately forgot to check it by myself last summer when I was in California. So, ... can anybody confirm this? Thanks in advance Disclaimer: I know that Michael Moore and guns are a very hot topic. So please keep cool and try to stay on topic. Thank you :) |
You heard about his new movie? And how Disney is trying to not let Maramax distribute it? It is apparently very hard on GW.
Also, at my local Walmart you can only buy rifle ammunition. |
I thought it was K-Mart or Target, not Wal-Mart. As far as I know, Wal-Mart still sells guns and ammunition.
|
Whether they did or not dosnt matter because the film is complete nonsense and is full of exagerations and outright lies just like Moores other film, In that film he insinuates that president Bush planned the 911 attacks and knew they were coming. People that knowingly and deliberatly lie to make someone out to be something they are not are fascists. Just like the nazi propaganda minister said, If you tell a lie enough times the people will believe it to be true.

the local wal-mart here sells handgun ammunition to you if you are 21
and yes, it was K-Mart in the movie |
The Wal-mart here no longer sells guns or ammunition, and it censors the media it carries to a ridiculous level. They are the devil after all. I have seen several small towns in my area virtually ruined by the introduction of a Wal-mart. Sad. I flat refuse to shop there.

As for the Bowling for Columbine.... if you think Moore is anti-guns you definitely haven't seen the movie. He owns many guns, he is a lifetime member of the NRA. He does feel that K-mart or Wall-mart or whatever selling ammunition for assault rifles is kind of stupid. He does think that the NRA having rally's at location where major gun violence has just occurred is insensitive and dumb. The question he tries to answer in the movie is effectively this "Why do we have so much more gun violence then other countries, even those that have as many or more guns per capita?" And if you watch the movie, the conclusion he makes is not that banning guns will stop gun violence. As he states, they have way more guns in Canada and yet they don't have a problem. He actually implies that it is more of a media issue in the US then an issue of availability. If you like to hear miss-truths and lies go back to FOX news. |
What the hell does it matter if your a republican or democrat?
Moore is a dirtbag either way "Why do we have so much more gun violence then other countries, even those that have as many or more guns per capita?" Nice how a question is asked as if the reference is fact, another nazi propaganda method fox news? what does that have to do with anything? |
As if what reference is a fact? The USA does have more gun violence than any other western country. It has more violence in general than any other western country.
Canada has more guns per capita, but less violence, comparable with a European country. However, the USA has a higher proportion of handguns and Canada has a higher proportion of rifles/shotguns. Lots of studies show that it's guns kept in a desk drawer etc. for "home protection" that end up killing people, often members of the family that own the gun. |
Bajanick ; Grow some brains and stop using words , you don't have the slightest notion of what they mean in the first place ; "nazi" and "fascist"
Touting every mentioning , going against your Bush-idolisation as "propaganda" is rather hypocritical , to say the least. |

It is possible to defend wrongful acts against a person without liking them or agreeing with that person on issues, Its called doing whats right and when false acussations are made against a person I will always be on the side of whats right. Ive disliked Micheal Moore ever since his first so called documentary Roger and me. Its scary how people resort to Calling others left wing or right wing when they hear the slightest defence of someone they hate. Maybe you should read the forum rules about insulting others and If you think that insulting people makes you right, Your wrong. WOW I didnt know It was wrong to call someone names like fascist or nazi without having proof, huh, just like Moore has.:p |
BajaNick - maybe if you provide a list of the parts you believe are wrong or outright lies and then proof/links to information which backs this up it could be turned back into a rational debate.
I have never had reason to seriously doubt him (I enjoy his books) and would welcome the information needed to show that he is wrong. To All - keep it clean. Refer to the rules regularly. That is the end of this public announcement. :) |
You can still buy most any kind of ammo at the local K-Mart. The Wal-Mart, oddly enough, doesn't sell any guns or ammo. First one I've seen that doesn't.
