Variants of X

Has anyone ever used another X windowing software besides Xfree86?

I know there are few out there, but I was kinda wondering just how good they are. Their advantages and disadvantages, etc.

I've heard that TinyX is quite good, once you actually get it to run. It is sort of like an ordinary X, but it's been stripped of all the bulk...it's designed for things like 386 laptops.

What are the others that you've heard of, anyway?

I think they are Accelerated X and Metro X, or something along those lines.

They charge money for them, but I was just curious about them.

i'm interested in whether there is more than one which is free software, ie free to distribute, and comes with source et c?

1. What video cards can it/does it support?
2. How hard is it to setup?
3. Where can I get it from?

1. Dunno, never used it. Read about it in Linux Format a while ago.
2. I think it's quite hard, but there's lots of docs that comes with it and you'll probably not get X progs to work on 386 laptops without it.
