using VMware and FC5 as virtual server

Hey,

I dont have a second machine to run a dedicated web server.

I have the fc5 base install virtual machine from thoughtpolice, it has apache and everything installed. However i have a few probs.

I have used MEPIS before, so i have basic linux skills.

The vm uses a virtual nic to get to my uni's network. It can either use NAT or be bridged. Ive been using NAT.

Their is a proxy we'll say its my.uni.proxy:3128

internal ip's are:
My box's ip is 192.168.10.80
subnet mask is 255.255.252.0
gateway is 192.168.8.1

Using the debian netinstall vm i have i can connect to the net, and i can with the fc5 vm. However, I cannot connect to the vm from my computer. I cannot get explorer to connect to the webserver. Even if i use a fixed IP address. I disabled iptables and selinux in fc5.'

Also my machine is Win XP pro SP5 (with IIS installed). How can i forward the incoming port 80 to the vm?

btw, i hate gnome :P

Does anyone have any suggestions

EDIT: currently using ics on xp to forward the port, still trying a few things, yet to get it all working.

So you're sandboxing your webserver in vmware. Disabling SE Linux and iptables won't help you. Its still important to keep it secure even if its vmware. If anything you actually need iptables to forward your port. You add complexity by having two nats. Now you have forword port 80 twice. Use bridged mode until you figure it out.
