using GNU Core Utilities to retreive md5sum

I am trying to use the md5sum tool. I go to the directory where the file is located, and run the md5sum in the terminal on Windows. I typed in "md5sum" then the file name, but then it returns, saying that the md5sum command is not recognized. How do I run a md5sum on a file?

@sniper8752 Perhaps it depends on the libraries (dlls) it depends upon. I'm not sure about coreutils, but the one from the site I referred to is certainly independent. And I've been using that for times already. And it's just 48kb Now I strongly doubt that there's any malicious code embedded in that even though it could have been compressed.
