Upgraded to WinXP - DOESNT work with Slack 9.1
Hi all,
Here's my setup.
I had Win2k installed and with Slack 9.1 (lilo).
I tried upgrading to WinXP but now I get the dreaded blue screen of death (No_PAGE_NOPAGED_AREA) some error like that . Same error as in questions/archive/18/2004/01/2/131658 of this website (i can't post url yet)
So now my machine will not boot, but I can still manage to use lilo to select slack.
Would like to get my windowsXP in without losing data.
Here is what I was thinking
- put lilo on a disk (how? can't find the disk and don't remember anymore how to...)
- download an Dos bootdisk
- format the /mbr
- try to fix/continue the XP installation (possible?)
- re-load lilo when xp is working
Can someone know if there's a more viable solution?
Or if this is even possible?
Really need someone to hold my hand through this, don't want any errors since I have some data that I really can't lose.
Thank in advance.
Also should mention that I found an HDD in the closet 2 gigs.
Would another possible solution just to set the hd in my machine right now to slave, and this one to master and do it as a fresh install. (i'd stlil have to format mbr right?).
Also hoping to reduce the size of my linux partition but that is a separate issue. Just mentioning it now in case it would be easier to do it now.
