trustworthy computing?!?!?! M$ are going too far!

omigawd! wtf are they on? to top it off intel, ibm and amd are in on it as well! i don't really care about ibm and intel, but amd?
i've just read two different articles three times in total disbelief.

what's that sh** about open source not running and having to rent applications and if you stop renting, all your saved files stop working!!

but they do say you can disable it if you don't want it...riiiiiiiiiihgt!!! there wouldn't be any point in spending money on developing it if you can do that, 'cos no one in thier right minds would would enable a feature that can rummage through their hdd and delete stuff at will.

then again it's actually quite funny how naive M$ actually are, thinking THEY of all people could develop a secure OS.... like there won't be a hack for it, the day of it's release(not that i care, 'cos i use 98SE, only because VB is my first language...unfortunately). ;)

It's incredible. That is the answer to last months wormapalooza, to say basically Don't worry folks! WE Got this one! We will read your hard drive about weekly and remove anything malicious and while we are at it... And what they may have thought of is to create a permissions structure around the win registry and outlook - or at least the address book!!!

vi0lat0r 03-27-2004 09:02 PM

It isn't being implemented on open source software right now... and once it starts (if and when) I will simply... NOT update to the version that has it! How about that? Obviously they can't edit the operating systems of the past... Guess if that happens there will be one less internet user - ME.

0pal_t0ad 03-27-2004 09:23 PM

i'll just get a Mac ;)

Pauli 03-27-2004 09:24 PM

Jesus christ cant you just put this in a pre existing I hate MS thread? There are about 10 million of them, why make another? Just put it somewhere else, every time I come on this fking site I see another one, I cant stand it. If you dont like MS fine, dont use it. But dont bitch about it. I do not hate MS, I happen to like it and it is good for many things. Do not try to flame me on this, go find the other 50 million people who flamed me for the same things. Hell, even with most "I hate MS threads" they at least link to a decent story, here you just rant.

witeshark 03-27-2004 09:27 PM

Pauli: In all fairness, it is about the latest plans in M$, not a simple repeat about past gripes... ;)

0pal_t0ad 03-27-2004 09:51 PM

yeah dude, and as i said it's not only microsoft. and as for flaming you... i don't see the point. you're entitled to your own opinion, as i am mine. so if want to rant i'll rant, its a free world.... for now :)

Baldorg 03-27-2004 09:57 PM

Sorry to break your bubble, but this is not a free world. If your comments are retarded they will be taken down.

0pal_t0ad 03-27-2004 10:09 PM

retarded?? dude, it's BURST, burst my bubble. and as it not being a free world?? you're living in the wrong place. also.. if you want to take my comments down... be my guest! i'm going to bed. g'night!

Baldorg 03-27-2004 10:10 PM

You are embarassing yourself, please stop.

I don't know about you, but I new about this last year. Old news, yes even about amd:study:

SciYro 03-28-2004 12:17 AM

old news, yes.. but still sad every time i hear about it!, (well, only cause AMD was in on it!)

SOMEONE SHOULD TELL THEM THE MEANING OF THE WORD P.C.!!!!!, then tell the world about it!, so they don't buy anything with TC in it! (including new TC enabled chips)

yes it is old, it's just that palladium/longhorn is due for release this year
and as they 90% of the worlds pc's are running windows and out that 90% how many would you say actually know about, let alone understand what tc is all about? got to be ATLEAST 50% even closer to 60 or 70%(that's home users obviously).

in many ways it's just like the matrix...except we aren't being bred :)
1) you have the matrix/TC, which in all fairness has it's good points, as Cipher said "Ignorance is bliss."

2) then you have the rebels(whatever they're called)/open-source trying to free the minds of the ignorant(for lack of a nicer word). but do they really need freeing? if all they do is download email/type a few note in Word then there isn't much of a problem, and if it can eliminate virii/trojans,spam and maybe even child porn then i'll welcome it w/ open arms.

it's a controversial issue for which there are more bad points than good, but in this case two wrongs do make a right. the REAL reason i'm complaining is 'cos i want to keep my mp3 collection.

XavierP 03-28-2004 07:34 AM

Palladium was announced last year and so it is 'old' news. However, it is potentially being released this year and so the news is current :)

Palldium will no doubt be circumvented very quickly by the OS community, so I am not that worried. I can't believe it will be so very strict (at least in the short term) because no one will buy it - remember, a lot of servers and other pcs run on non-MS software. Aslo, we would need to take into account the various rulings around the world on MS matters.

Anyway, keep it clean, keep it friendly and chat away :D

I've got my 9 gigs of .Ogg files on a seperate partition/drive that windows can't see or has access to.....ha ha
Uncle Bill and/or the RIAA can shove it, this is MY Computer and I'll keep/play my music on it if I want.
