Top 10 Reasons I LUV Linux.

10. I love spending countless hours reinstalling an OS

9. I love running a cheese grater over my shin... and getting linux to work the way I want is very similar

8. Its free! ... NOT

7. Bill Gate's house is WAY too big.

6. Its impossible to infect a Linux system with a virus. Ok.. I lied on this one.

5. Its MUCH more flexible... so flexible in fact that you end up screwing up your OS and end up going back to my number 10 reason... and get caught in an endless loop.

4. Penguins are cool. Especially that one with the umbrella on Batman.

3. So many different distributions to choose from... (unless of course you eliminate the ones whos installers are a piece of S***)

2. All of the OTHER Os'es out there pretty much suck (my nose just sprouted about 3 inches).

1. Did I mention that Linux was free? (unless of course you decide to pay yourself 3.25 an hour for installing it then it costs about 2000.00)

Red face

You've started this forum in September and still did not learn how to use Linux? .That's pretty sad... I know some peoples takes a little longer to learn things but wow...
But it's way to go. Another Linux Vs something is exactly what we need . Since you clearly have so much more to add here then the other 100.000.000 threads right? NOT...

Even the most DEDICATED... Linux person MUST admit that the ERRORS and situations you find yourself in when trying to deal with Linux, are FAR more difficult to deal with than those they find themselves in with Windows.

Ive been in... and currently AM IN... a situation with trying to install Linux that creates problems that by FAR exceed ANYTHING I have ever had to deal with in Windows.

Never treated it as being a religion, but to say that DOS edit is the best text editor is a little fanboy thing don't ya think?

Lets analyze WHY... Linux is the way it is...

Using scripts to boot your system is a piss poor way to go.

It leads to lack of standardization, and difficult upgrades. There should be only ONE... get it... ONE way to boot a linux system. This crap about if I have Distribution X my system boots one way, but if I have Distribution Y... it boots using another set of scripts... SUCKS.

The folks at Microsoft realize this. There is only one way to boot a version of Windows... OS Loader... reads Registry...

Plain... simple... to the point... no muss... no fuss...

If this thread is just here to start a flame or argument, lets save ourselves the trouble and close it now. If its not here for this reason, why not state some very good facts and proof why you think a thread like this won't cause a stir?

This thread was digging its own hole before the first reply. Its being watched closely.

Cheers.
