A neat little website, and I don't doubt the real numbers are huge. But I'd like to see something about where they're getting their data since the page source code just has a bunch of flash objects. What's generating the numbers? Are they being compiled live from some official data source?

I would never weep for them. They caused the debt, they did it on purpose, we all now serve the master, the one ring. We didn't get ourselves into debt, they imposed it upon us. Oh, and the federal reserve is private, and they can produce as much money as they want to control the economy, and really to control you.

Let us thank all the corporate and government goons that pretty much got us into this whole mess, as well as some frivolous spenders out there that lived beyond their means.

Now that the Chinese will be our overlords, I for one welcome them. Its now time for us all to learn Mandarin Chinese. Ni hao ma!

I will soon be 65 and I think that it is a real shame that everything is the way it now is.

When I was a kid cereal did not come full of chemicals and preservatives. Meat did not come full of steroids. Seeds were not genetically modified resulting in modified human beings. People were not afraid of their children. Public education was not a joke. And not everyone was corrupted.

Those days are long gone. They seem like three or four lifetimes ago.

So those times really did exist ? I guess I'm too young to have known them. Pity ... and don't think it's gonna get better, it's gonna get worse, much much worse.

I'm sort of hoping the steroids help my girls break 5 feet tall. The tallest sibling in my wife's family is 4 feet 10 inches.

Steroids actually stunt your growth ... they cause early fusing of epiphyseal plates in long bones, thus your bones stop growing ... except for other types of bones (short, flat, irregular, sesamoid), thus you get disproportionate growth, similar to Acromegaly, although less severe.

Not to mention the water supplies are full of trace amounts of tons of different prescription drugs. Namely psychotropics and birth control. I saw a story about it on one of the news shows. It is becoming a real concern.

Some of the numbers look peculiar to me, and like pljvaldez I'd be curious as to the source of this data, as well as how each debt category is being defined. In particular, as of the time of this post, the total federal debt was listed as $11.3 Trillion (which I'd consider accurate) but the "bailouts" total was listed as $11.6 Trillion. Assuming that the bailouts are only one component of the total debt, it's a little unclear as to how the total debt could be smaller than one of its parts.

Regardless, the federal debt is (or at least should be) treated as a house-on-fire type of emergency by Congress and the Obama administration. I recognize that's tilting at windmills though, since politicians routinely approve spending tens or even hundreds of billions of tax dollars each year in excess of receipts. That unfortunately is a game that will eventually have a seriously harsh ending, because at some point there simply will be nobody left who will believe that all that debt can be paid back. At that point, when there is no one left to borrow from, and thus no way to finance all that spending, the inevitable adjustment will be severe. I'm not a doom and gloom kind of person, but the reckless govt spending has to stop. Seriously. Just my 2 cents

... and all sorts of other toxins many (demons) claim are very good for your health ... so, don't drink the tap water. Technically the problem is bigger than that, because your food also contains lots of different toxins too. Only solution may be to own a farm and grow your own stuff. Or you could try organic stuff, but how much can you trust them ?

I saw a TV show once about bottled water companies and how they just basically fill bottles from the faucet and sell them. We really have put ourselves in a tough spot when it comes to health. We want everything to be preserved, we want all these medications, but nobody ever thought about the side-effects. And if they did, they thought the benefits outweighed the risks. This is why a hundred years ago cancer was so rare.

Ah, but it's far worse than that, check here:
http://science.slashdot.org/story/09...-From-Elsevier

Not only that, but I've heard from some of my teachers, that pharmaceutical companies do threaten scientists who were going to release negative findings about drugs (especially really negative ones), not only will they not get past the publishers, but they'll probably end up face down in the gutter...

They also own the FDA, it's their pet poodle. And, of course, they all are bound by the one ring.

Some say that the biggest threat to humanity comes from Monsanto's genetically altered seeds and the mutated plants that result from them. It's been reported that both swine flu and mad cow disease sprung from the filth in factory farms. Sort of reminds me of the movie " Soylent Green ".

I have heard that these genetically altered plants are supposed to make them easier to grow and more available, but I have watched food prices climb steadily in my area right along with everything else. I have to call BS on the whole genetic crop fad. I think its a gimmick by the companies to sell seed.
