The Robots movie

I just watched the movie Robots. Tell me if this plot sounds familiar:

A young robot learns to tinker and build things. He goes to the big city to share his inventions and help people, but he soon finds himself against a big corporation. The evil leader of the corporation figures out the best way to drive up profits is to stop selling spare parts and only offer shiny, expensive upgrades. The common robots can't afford upgrades, so they are swept up for scrap metal. The young robot helps the common robots, so the evil corporate robot tries to have him destroys.

Do you think the makers of Robots should worry a certain mega-corporation has this plot patented and will sue?

I like my Accord. I'm only at 197,000 miles.

I was thinking of the corporation was like Microsoft trying to annihilate the young inventor Linus who stopped them from taking over the world and forcing people to pay boatloads of cash for stuff they didn't really want. Maybe just me...
