I have written to Mr. City Manager---quoting the Tuttle website where he says he answers all calls. No reply yet.
From his page:
Quote:
Please call me, or come by my office at City Hall. My door is always open and I answer all calls. Click on my name to send an email.
Notice that he doesn't actually promise to answer any emails. He apparently does answer his phone however. Having read the article, I wouldn't suggest visiting his office, even though his door is always open. He'd probably consider it an attack and have the FBI kick your butt.
Interestly, the link for his e-mail that WAS in the website is now gone. My e-mail has not bounced, but I also cannot ping the domain name---curious.
Thinking also of contacting the local newspaper....
Now where did I put that spare time?---I just saw it here last year....

I laughed but this is really not very funny. If the city manager of oklahoma city government is so paranoid as to persistantly accuse the lead developer of CentOS of wrong doing in spite of the reasonable attempts by the developer to recommend a solution to the problem. Then all I have to say is "Houston we have problem here..."
If the city manager reacts this way to a server problem...I wonder how effective he will be at dealing with life and death issues? When you stop to think of it, it doesn't give you warm fuzzy feeling at all.
Finally the mailto link for the mayor is available at the city's website for those of you who may wish to express your concern about this matter to him.

Yes it is, it is a testiment to the technological illiteracy of modern society -- and also to the severe lack of Linux popularity in general. Although at the same time that could be seen as a bad thing; so in that sense I agree with you.

I have sent e-mail to the mayor---and also to the local newspaper. My message is that this is an embarassment to the city and they would be well-advised to take responsibility and apologize. We'll see.......
Sorry, but this is not funny. I deal with pillocks like this all the time, all mouth and no knowledge. Full of "I've been doing x for 20 years, I'm an expert", blah blah, bluster and bullshit. They give us real techies a really bad image. What a complete tw@.

It is WAY past technology illiteracy.....
This guy is a bully who did not seem to be interested in listening or even TRYING to understand what the other person was saying.
I thought that it was a really nice touch to continue to blame CentOS after the problem was shown to be at the hosting Co.
