Ops, sorry, it wasn't 99. The Quran didn't give any specific number, but according to Hadiths, someone who get killed when they fight the way of Allah, will get 72 virgins. Wow. I can really understand why men would like to be muslims now. It makes so much more sense. I can't understand women though. Do they get 72 virgin males when they are killed for being raped? :P

(Sorry, that was inappropriate, but I couldn't resist).

So what do you have to say about Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani? A mother of 2 in Iran who's going to be executed after a forced confession of adultery.

Or what about these:

Cleric dismisses women's rights: http://www.realcourage.org/2010/04/mazen-al-sarsawi/
80-year-old Saudi man marries a child: http://www.jihadwatch.org/2010/01/sa...-old-girl.html
Wife beating supported by islamic scripture: http://www.answering-islam.org/Silas/wife-beating.htm
Cleric comparing women to "uncovered meat" as a justification for rape: http://www.islamreview.com/articles/...PONSIBLE.shtml

This is only on the way women are viewed in your scriptures and in states where Sharia Law is practiced.
And before you try to claim that I'm wrong you need only look at Saudi Arabia: it is the embodiment of Islam since it strictly enforces Sharia Law and yet it is one of the most oppressive nations on the planet.

Now before we get accused too much of picking on just Islam, let us move on a bit.

As much as I pointed out to people George Carlin and his master arguments about religion, it is time for a different approach. George Carlin may be gone, and his legacy will live on, but there is another person to take up the torch.

Lewis Black!

Also his book "Me Of Little Faith" is a must read.

There is no point in trying to talk some sense ito ppl who believe they are the only ones who know some kind of Truth... no point at all...

I can say I am a very tolerant and cosmopolite person...

But I ask now...

What is the purpose of ppl travelling to other contries, and integrating other cultures they no not intend to respect...??!!

I think there is a lot of misconception about this issue of tolerance vs prejudice around...

And the attitude of some ppl is Intellectually Dishonest... :

Sort of ... :

" Now that they tolerate me, I can do WHATEVER I WANT, from stoning women, blasting buses in the centre of a major European Capital City, or an entire railway station, to Honor killing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_killing , etc, BECAUSE, IF SOMEONE SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT IT HE'S THE ONE WHO IS INTOLERANT"

This, my friends, SUCKS, period

I can tell you...

In the day some Muslim decides to kill a daughter in Japan on account of a crime of Honor, HE WILL BE PROSECUTED TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE JAPANESE LAW

In the day some Muslims gather in Ueno Park to stone some poor innocent and hopeless creature, there will be mobs in the streets with people armed from Sharp objects, to UZI machine guns to expell them from the Japanese Islands.

In Japan in 21st Century, men do not stone women. And we want to keep it this way

With all due respect, criticism is NOT insulting, learn to distinguish the two. Thats the trouble with most religious people. Any sort of criticism, WITH VALID points, NOT cheap jokes, it is considered an insult. As Marcus Brigstocke pointed out in the youtube video linked by Sycamorex, 'any criticism of Israel and their policies' is taken as anti-semitism. Seriously, get over it.

Same with Christians and Muslims. Any sort of criticism that points out certain things that are right in front of them, they refuse to acknowledge it, and cry that it is somehow insulting.

Khodeir...

There is a deep conceptual barrier between you and me ... boils down to this :

The beliefs of a community, or an individual should serve the sole purpose of the fullfillment of the individual, and maximize the acheivments of the community.

Jurists and law theorists call this the "Jusrationalist" perspective.

Some others think that

The goal of a Community or an Individual should be to stick as closely as possible to some sort of immutable beliefs: In short, the Individual EXISTS only to the satisfaction of a static and immutable belief.

This is the "Positivist " conception ( Law is Positively coded in a written Document, whose interpretation is only allowed to a few "illuminated Individuals"

For my Part, I can live with that, provided that these folks do NOT EVER TRY TO BOSS ME OR MY COUNTRY'S WAY OF LIFE with their perception...

Like stoning women, killing their own daughters, blasting buses in high traffic hours, or railway stations... etc

Are we clear here...??!!
