Abou Ben Adhem by James Henry Leigh Hunt

Quote:
Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)
Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,
And saw, within the moonlight in his room,
Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom,
An angel writing in a book of gold:—
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,
And to the Presence in the room he said
"What writest thou?"—The vision raised its head,
And with a look made of all sweet accord,
Answered "The names of those who love the Lord."
"And is mine one?" said Abou. "Nay, not so,"
Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low,
But cheerly still, and said "I pray thee, then,
Write me as one that loves his fellow men."

The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night
It came again with a great wakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blessed,
And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.

Question

Interesting article, I fit the thesis... I'd like to think lots of times genetics doesn't make as big a difference as up-bringing and thinking ("don't think, know") but if we start to devolve? Not to mention twins are never "identical."

He also points out that the finding may not be universal because the research focused on a single population of US men.

I think that "corrected and improved" is much more appropriate and fair than "turned topsy-turvy".

The original report document was made widely available in 2014.

At a meeting of the cardinals of the Inquisition on the following day, Pope Paul V instructed Bellarmine to deliver this result to Galileo, and to order him to abandon the Copernican opinions; should Galileo resist the decree, stronger action would be taken. On February 26, Galileo was called to Bellarmine's residence and ordered,

«to abstain completely from teaching or defending this doctrine and opinion or from discussing it... to abandon completely... the opinion that the sun stands still at the center of the world and the earth moves, and henceforth not to hold, teach, or defend it in any way whatever, either orally or in writing.»

Thankfully things have changed in the Catholic world as long as they are not faced with dealing with a formal declaration by the pope such as with Galileo leaving the church with nasty egg on its' face regarding the "infallibility of the pope". Georges LeMaitre, who was funded by the Vatican in his studies that led to the "Big Bang Theory" (he didn't call it that as that moniker was originally a denigrating term coined by British astronomer, Fred Hoyle, an otherwise brilliant man) was upset when Pope Pious X11 made a speech saying that Big Bang proved Creationism. Georges told the Pope, in effect, "You are a scholar of scripture. keep to what you know best. This is Science and my studies don't clearly point in either way regarding Creation." The pope then apologized and ceased all such remarks.

That said it is certainly telling that 350 years passed before Galileo received a formal posthumous apology, despite admissions that he was right and the church was mistaken by various popes and cardinals for hundreds of years leading up to the formal admission.

Your comment are very interesting.

You said you have no problems with worshipers.

Could you give more details ?

You mean the archaic "hospitals," like the future will say of "ours?"

I just finished season two of "American Horror Story" tho season three may revile more fiction and facts here on someone's "light\dark" &c... (spoiler: Stevie Nicks has lost it; stay "immortal" and\or lipsink. )

Life is one-thing,,, a loophole is another; face facts!

Around and around until truth is found... or, we let go; being good is not being religious!
