Origins

There are two possible origins--1) Matter precedes life 2) Life precedes matter

Isn't one necessarily the parent of the other? Show me something living whose parent had not ever lived. If you can't do that, then show me something dead that can produce life in and of itself. Yet a seed can fall to the ground, die, and with nourishment, bring forth and sustain life from generation to generation because it's origin is with one with life.

It's obvious life is superior to matter.

Life can't be without matter (at least as far as we know), but matter can be without life. How can life be superior?

Judge by what you see. You can see that flesh decays and is obliterated. Judge also by what you do not see. You do not see what happens to the spirit of a person. If you assume what you prefer when you don't see, God help you. But if you trust God, good for you!

I can see a stone. It is matter. It doesn't need life to exist.
I can see a life-form. It needs matter to exist. Without matter it doesn't exist.
I can only know what I can see. I can't see a spirit. There is no knowledge at all if such a thing like a spirit even exists. Only belief, but not knowing is no base for a discussion.

By the way, if you believe in god (the christian one) than you should believe that matter precedes life, since the bible says that your god created matter first and after that the life-forms. Didn't he even formed Adam from mud?

I vote that this should be merged with the religion megathread.

I don't see how merging two threads is censoring. Not one word will be lost.

I agree with TobiSD that your charge of censorship was both unwarranted and unreasonable.

Also, an eternal universe, containing an Earth that has always existed, would be most consistent with the argument in your first post.

That thread was started to assess people's self-assessment of their "religiosity." Morever, it's tagged as humor, not speculation or convictions on science & faith.

Well it's clear to me, some here would like to be technocrats, if they aren't already.

And there are far more who look at the title of this website, and read "LinuxQuestions.org". To me, that would indicate a website that is focused on LINUX. Not religion. All you're doing is trolling with these threads, and your logic appears very disjointed, as others have noted as well.

Want to talk religion? Do everyone a favor...visit a web forum that focuses on it. Go to a church somewhere, and 'testify'. Get a soapbox, go stand in the park, and preach to the masses. But this isn't the place for it, in my opinion.

To be fair, TB0ne, he did begin by asking if threads about religion were appropriate here:
