Basically the only real advantage that windows has is the size of it's user base. You can argue that it has more games readily available for it, but I would point right back to my original statement.
Windows has the games because the money is in developing for the Windows audience. There's nothing that makes it a fundamentally better platform and plenty that makes it worse.

But you still have a lot of games for Linux that are open source. Some others can be played using wine.

I see One of real limitation of Linux compared to Windows is that most PC games are release for Windows but not Linux
I find this statement a bit ridiculous. Now, Linux developers do not develop games. It is not a limitation of Linux. Ask game developers to do it for Linux as well or port them to Linux or make source open so that some others could do it.
I agree with asking developers to port, they should do more ports to linux for games. Though with current development on wine you can play a lot of windows games given you have a system that can do it. Windows is no better than linux, nor is linux really better than windows (sorry to say). They just have fundamental differences, also the community following each has different ideals usually. I enjoy linux because I am more comfortable with it, and it suits my needs without all the windows bloat. Plus I hate what windows has done with it's control panel and admin options, every time they do a drastic change you have to learn it over again.
This would seem to imply you have some ideas about what those limitations are. You should probably run them by us, before this turns into a free-for-all Windows-bashing contest.
Agree with you there...
I say two things:
1) Linux is not for dumb people. That is its "limitation" given that somehow low IQs are growing everywhere (I guess is the tv)... people are afraid of the CLI(command line interface) which comes to be the heart of *NIX/Linux.
2) Linux is a screw driver and windows is a hammer, thats it. I use linux for detailed work, coding, etc... I spend 90% time in linux... I use windows for things that require windows, like most games (of course you can use wine but the feeling is different, it looks different and it is a work in progress), and sometimes work, like Photoshop since I havent found a way to start it in lunux yet... so basically gaming...
Best article I have read about it...
This is what everybody switching to linux should read first... I think this link should be stickied in the newbies forum or put as a post in there with just the key info for a quick read.

It is still a bit older that they have used old and now unsupported Ubuntu 7.04 Fiesty Fawn.
And from that though Vista hasnt grown and has not got much better than it was Ubuntu has grown far and wide and it gets easier and better with every release.
And it should always be noted that there is meaning in comparing Ubuntu or for that matter any distribution with windows. These two are different operating systems.
If your grandma has got no knowledge of computing it would be no different while using Ubuntu as for windows.
Really It's just A drivers, applications, games that are 'pay for'... Mainly because those programs are developed for windows... Though linux has a lot of windows alternatives, which makes the applications gap smaller... it doesn't touch as much of the games/drivers gap. That's where linux really lacks.
In my personal opinion they both OS's have their place. I love working with linux. Once you get the hang of it, it just works and doesn't USUALLY break for some ridiculous reason.
However windows has it's place too. In my opinion you simply cannot beat some of the microsoft products such as active directory, and exchange. They work very well. I know somebody will say you can do the same thing with linux but I happen to like Microsoft for those products.
True, some Microsoft products don't have an equal counter part in linux, but a lot of us know how to work around that. That's part of the more 'advance' areas of linux though.

My $0.02
And I like OpenLDAP and Postfix; they work very well, cost
nothing. As for exchange "working well", that is very much
a matter of opinion and individual experience(s). Mine differ
from yours, it appears. And I'm not speaking of inherently
nasty features like header-mangling or MS permissiveness of
illegal characters in their hostnames, but of it crashing and
eating tons of mail in the process.
