Ok what I did was used the add-on for Firefox, User Agent Switcher. Problem with that is it resets and I always forget how to change that.

So what I do is add another agent and it will pick up all the information on its own. Then I copy the information from general.useragent.override (type that into the filter box ontop in about:config) and then I disable the add on. There is another way of forcing the addon to always use that by default, but I always forget how to do that.

I go to about:config and...

Right click and add new string

name it:

general.useragent.override

then:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; archlinux; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101211 Firefox/3.6.13 (which for me is the information I got from the User Agent Addon before I disabled it.)

Notice where it says archlinux? This of course can be changed to debianlinux, ubuntulinux and so on. I think the default is something linux but you will see where that spot is when you first copy it from the User Agent addon before disabling it.

I hope I explained this correctly and didn't confuse it. I sometimes do that, lol.

Ok I am going to test something before I reply to you. I am seeing if there is a simpler way of doing this. If we see an Arch icon then my first attempt actually worked, lol.

Ok great got it.

Just add this line to about:config

right click and add string

name it: general.useragent.override

then the next window that pops up just type in this:

(archlinux)

then restart Firefox. This should get you the icon without going through all that I mentioned above in my previous reply.

For others that read this just do the same and add your distro rather then arch, for example. (ubuntulinux) (debianlinux) etc. You may have to play around with the name a bit depending on the distro but always have linux at the end of it.

It works!

I didn't even have to restart Firefox.

Excellent. I always say restart to be on the safe side. A habit left over from my windows days when you had to restart for every little thing, lol.

Testing a (relatively) fresh Arch install on my "clunker".

Yay!
