techno/trance? recommendation.for working/studying
Hi there,
Recently I've been doing a lot of studying and I need a lot of focus and concentration. I drink a lot of water to keep myself hydrated. Sometimes, however, it's the external environment that distracts me. The only thing I can do is put my headphones on and try to focus. It's not usually a problem but recently I've been quite busy and really need to get disconnected from the world to do my work. I remember during my university times (some time ago) my room mate had some techno music that I usually listened to and it really did the trick. It was some dark (=nothing cheerful) trance music. It'd put me in some kind of thought trance that it was hardly possible to distract me. I don't normally listen to techno/trance so I have no clue about any albums/artists. Can anyone recommend anything like that? BTW, I usually study/code listening to Rachmaninoff but this time it's not enough. I need something stronger:) Desperate times call for desperate measures:) |
Not a techno fan, except for some trip-hop bands like Massive Attack and UNKLE. Anyway, if you're interested in techno/trance music, you can go to www.di.fm . It's an online radio with many techno channels. I usually listen to the lounge channel, but I think it's not what you're looking for (there are many techno and trance channels, anyway).

Well, the only channels I've listened are the lounge and chillout channels, and the only interruptions I've heard are short 10 seconds advertisements every now and then (not too often, actually; maybe like every 30 minutes, or so). Not really intrusive, and I guess it's the same in the other channels.

I find atmospheric black metal (like Agalloch and Summoning) works best for work/studying.

dj.dag.the.warehouse.club.koln.1993 (this is real trance) 50 minute set
http://hotfile.com/dl/149144866/8465...ROPER.mp3.html sven.vath.the.warehouse.club.koln.1993 50 minute set http://hotfile.com/dl/149146341/f55a...ROPER.mp3.html *EDIT* maybe this isnt really what you're looking for, its a bit too 'interactive'. If you're looking for mindless repetitive dark dance music do a search for 'chicago house sets'. |
Thanks for your suggestions.
Clifford, are you allowed to share it here on the forum? Isn't it copyrighted? I don't want to get Jeremy, you or myself in any form of trouble. |

But the sound quality of these recordings isnt great anyway, and the tracks arnt full versions, so I dont see a problem. |

If you are looking for techno recommendations, I would point you toward Warp Records' Artificial Intelligence series. Also try last.fm's radio - it plays you a mix of music based on given criteria (tags or specific artists).

Thanks R3nCi. I will try it.
Clifford, I really like the first one. Thanks for that. |
I'd like to second odiseo77 for di.fm.
1. Its free 2. They have over 20 stations 3. They rank their stations by popularity 4. They have a forum and comment section to interact with the community about the current track. 5. It streams live 24/7 I like the chillout or minimal for studying. Its repetitive and not distracting. For programming I like hard dance and vocal trance. |
Hello,
Does anyone have this that was posted earlier in this thread?: dj.dag.the.warehouse.club.koln.1993.PROPER.mp3 |
I'm not great fan of trance music but I like Armin Van Buuren :)
Here you can find a top 10 list trance dj. |
