It says he lost his data. If he has the back ups then he still has his data. So either it deleted his back ups or he did not have back ups. Of course if he had no back ups then all I can say is hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not trying to be a smart ass but are you using Windows without any sort of Virus protection? Ive had XP for 3 years and have never caught a major virus. Just one or two minor ones. You might find Linux more pleasant because you are no longer getting spyware or viruses but I guarantee you are going to have other issues with Linux that are going to drive you up the wall so before you say goodbye to Wndows I'd find a way to dual boot both OS's and casually move into Linux before you completely throw Windows out the door. Until you become a Linux pro there are going to be times when you want or need to boot into that Windows partition and do some work. Hope that helps

after i figured out how to install it and set it up, linux hasnt driven me up anything in hte past 4 months.

keep the windows partition, but youre not going to be doing any "work" on it, ill guarantee that. just keep it as simple as possible and use it ONLY to play games. most windows programs can be run in linux using wine. im running windows right now without an AV program, but i use firefox and i stay safe. because i only use it for gaming, i dont want to sacrifice resources to an AV prog.
