Spotify - we are many.

Went to spotify to try to play music for free. It say: "Bugger off unless you can get another party, who is a member of spotify, to sponsor you."

Screw you spotify.

Might it be good for linuxquestions persons to sponsor each other onto spotify?

Ye are many; they are few.

For some reason, even though they say you need an invite. They've got a page here:
https://www.spotify.com/en/get-started/

that you can sign up without an invite.

Sorry I thought this was General. Anyway, vis Samael above, it works but:

Download Spotify for other platforms

We are sorry, but currently we only support Windows and Mac.

Of course, if you want to go ahead and download the Windows or Mac application for now we’ll keep quiet about it.

If you are using Linux, you might want to run Spotify under Wine.
So screw them twice.

Poster above.. You are correct, sir, this is general.

Poster above (to me) or below (to lugoteehalt): it's in big General now, but it wasn't.

Regardless, no big deal.

That pissed me off also, but then again it's a common situation. As much as I dislike apple I really wish they'd release iTunes for Linux. Along with a whole list of other apps from various developers, anyway there is another thread for that topic.

I got Spotify put on this windows install. It's ok, but unless you select another song to play before the current one ends you get a long as **** advert playing. Add to that is the fact that if you're in a location where bandwidth is limited it does'nt work so well. The interface is nice though and it gives an option to view a biography of the artist being played just like Winamp.
