REally ?
I've to see that 'effort' yet !
before i purchased my current laptop (which ironically also happens to be an acer aspire , from the UK as well) i went to check the online store at dell (btw i never buy equipment from stores like comet because you can get the same hardware 20%-30% cheaper if you buy it online , though you gotta be careful ..anyways)
the cool (lame as you'll see later) thing about dell's website is that you can customize your laptop
to whatever color , hdd or cpu you want ...etc i guess you've seen the drill before
among the options they offered i guess windoze vista home edition for no extra charge and another option that said vista professional for an extra chargeof appr. £100 (ARE YOU fricking kidding me

)
...so i chatted with the customer live support on their website and i asked the sales rep if they offer the same offer with a third option to have no os shipped in a vain attempt to cut another superfluous £100 from the total £400 laptop !!
yet the sales rep , responded with a bold NO saying 'they' don't sell laptops without os'es
Isn't it outrageous that you're forced to buy a MS windoze crap license that costs you about 25% of the total package , regardless of whether you want it or not ??...
yet they (i mean dell and co) still have the balls to claim that you can frikking 'customize' or laption ARRRRGGGGGG!
Do you know ppl understand why I gutterly hate Microsoft with such passion ??
it's you either buy the laptop that includes a fee to Microsoft otherwise would make the laptop 25% cheaper or simply don't a buy a laptop and remain in the electrical dark age of the commodor !
this is a crystal clear example of extortion !
