I have been blogging for a month now and just cant find the reasons for blogging anymore.
I thought its better that I should first discuss it with someone.
So should I blog or not?
Why would you blog, if you ever blogged?
Some companies use blogs as a marketing tool. Sometimes reporters use blogs to do on-the-side editorials on current events. A lot of everyday folk blog to keep friends and family up-to-date (better than bombarding them with mass emails). Others blog because they want a private diary (on a public forum, for some reason). You can always stop if it doesn't suit your current needs. Nothing will stop you from restarting, should you feel the urge to blog again.
I really don't see the point either... I have never blogged but besides being a procrastinator I really don't think that posting what I had for breakfast would serve a purpose to anyone... But it seems to be a big thing... I guess people really do want to know what others are having for breakfast...
I really think people should get out more....!!!
just a thought... I'll right it down in my diary...
If you have anything to say to somebody which you think has relevance and if you can say it well then blog. I find blogging a lot of fun. You can talk about issues around you, you can write technical articles, you can write about things that are of common interest to a particular audience.
Find a target audience and try and appeal to them. Think of yourself as an newspaper or magazine editor and think of each blog entry as an editorial. Think of interesting things to say and try to offer perspective. That way you can write about things that will interest more people. At the same time, don't be a dry theorist. Try to make it interesting.
For example, if you're writing about environmental issues, don't write impersonally about what is happening in a faraway country. Try to speak from your point of view. Try to speak about what is happening around you rather than what is happening in another country about which you've only heard on the news. Colour it with some anecdotes about what your neighbours do about garbage dumping in your locality. Raise relevant issues and finally offer your own personal take on it. Write with a relatively informal style. Don't be too stiff or formal.
The above was just an example. No matter what topic you choose, make sure the topic is of common interest. The way you approach it should offer a personal perspective. Choose topics about which you are passionate and fairly knowledgeable about.
Try not to write a diary-kind of blog "About Myself". Such blogs embarrass me... Nobody is interesting in your personal life. Keep such things safely tucked away in your local hard disk. I am not a fan of these "diary" blogs where you write about your pet cat and why you couldn't do your shopping on saturday. Boring...
I gotta agree with everyone here...you gotta have a reason to blog. If you don't have a target audience (specific issue, family, friends, or yourself), why blog? Most of the blogs around today are going to disappear once the novelty wears off. The blogs I read interest ME somehow. Thats how blogging sites link xanga and livejournal got so popular, everyone was involved in some type of community that cared about what they had to say.

I write a blog entry every few months, usually discussing notable events of each time I change operating systems. I'm pretty sure I don't have any readers, but it doesn't bother me too much.
