I agree folding is more worthwhile. I would rather let my PC help find a way to cure diseases then try and find alien life. Im sorry but thats just how I feel.
I'm running folding, and think that it is clearly more important. I'd rather find a cure for Alzheimer's than find some aliens who may or may not decide to kill or enslave us
Just a question [I dun really want to run either atm (system slows too much need an upgrade then I will)] But with folding won't there eventualy be an end? I guess a better worded question would be does folding only hold the possible sure for one disease or is it a foundation for much much more?
Folding may come to an end eventually, but there is a lot to do first and it's about more than just one disease... The results will give us a lot of info on protien building dynamics which will have wide reaching implications.
As for running either. They only use cpu power when it's free, so they have no effect on the machine. I run folding on all sorts of PC's - from a P188 to a athlon 64-2800...
Hm it just seemed the Seti made things run slower, of course at teh time I knew a lot less then I do now (almost a year a go now), so I might give it anouther try soon. Thanks for the info.
