Question SDK for LInux

Hello friends !

I just downloaded linux kernel 3.15 .It was some tar.xz file. So naturally windows could not open it.
So I am asking here how can I open it.What SDK or DDK is required to analyze and edit it and where can I get it .

Another thing is that If any of you are members in SOURCEFORGE AND ASKUBUNTU, Then please Tell me
how to log out from these sites ?

7-Zip can open tar.xz files on Windows.

And: "edit it?" They're just text files. Notepad or any other editor.

Well thanks for your great help. And you know I am a novice, not some tech guru like you. I can clearly see the log out link just below the MY LQ section. But there is no such LOG OUT link on the whole ASKUBUNTU page. Some how I got it in SOURCEFORGE but I am helpless with ASKUBUNTU.

I hope now you understand me.

And again thank you.

waiting for your reply
