Safe, Free, Online Storage

I don't need anything fancy. I just want to ftp or otherwise copy a few important files to an offline site. No need to synch anything. Is there any such thing?

TIA

"Safe", "Free". and "Online" are not three words that make sense when together like this in this context.

However, maybe you want to be looking into some of this "cloud computing" stuff that seems to be getting common - I believe that's the entire purpose of it, is to store your stuff online (do you want online, or offline? Is that a typo?)

Dropbox works both on and offline by syncing your selected folders when you connect. It has Windows and Linux (KDE and Gnome) clients.

As this is not a Linux technical question, I have moved it to General.

Yes, oFFline

Yes, I mean offline. Synching is more complication than I need or want. I just want to be able to ftp a few files to a safe place and be able to retrieve them as needed. (I hope this isn't a really, really dumb question).

Yes there are some sites that would store your data. I have used them but that was a _really_ long time ago. Personally I would be more comfortable encrypting the files and saving them on a cd or a flash drive. As far as offline storage is concerned you would have to google it yourself ... see there may be some 'terms and conditions'Yes there are some sites that would store your data. I see that Ubuntu 10.10 offers offline storage with the OS. I'm thinking this will suit me fine.
