Russian hacker was arrested earlier this month - hacking offenses in 2012
Hi there,
I was reading on PCworld about Yevgeniy Aleksandrovich arrested in the Czech republic. He was sitting in some restaurant with an associate, before they even ordered.
These offenses took place a number of years ago, it was only at the beginning of this month that the law caught up with him, he could serve thirty two years. He's only twenty nine.
They've arrested people in the UK as well. One was a young boy with Asperger's who had hacked into US government machines without any evil intent, just to prove to himself that he could do it. Typical of these autistic types! Of course there was no way someone like him could have survived in the average American prison. Fortunately there was a big public stink about extraditing him and he will now serve his sentence over here.
The problem I have with this is, when I think about myself, I wouldn't know where to begin. I only know of a few clips on youtube for home hacking attempts like wifi(didn't even bother with that yet) or the web camera, which I did try and due to a youtube clip displaying a virtual box use of the hacking tutorial it didn't work out the same for two computers connected to one wifi network. Once I got t msfvenom etc it was a different screen displaying.
Don't know.
But yeah, I just couldn't believe how so many of the hackers who have been arrested I read many months back were doing so from home, since that is the only way for most attempts, and just being very careless.
A net cafe doesn't make it possible to install software. Computer hacking is pretty pointless, without some kind of setup, just isn't worth these beginners out theirs time only to then get charged with years or decades. I believe one hacking attempt can get five years here in the UK.
