replacement for x

there is a lot of talk about Xfree being to bloated. Im ready to toy with something else and I found something called fresco that claims to replace X but that isn't finished yet.

So is there realy a alternative to X?

XFree's alternative, the "famous one" that's being talked about here, is called simply x.org...it's based on XFree but it's GNU-compliant, unlike XFree's new version that is not completely..

I don't know about fresco..or should I say, I haven't yet found out too much about it :) check out x.org website if you want to see...

Also check out the y-windowing system
There is also another X implementation from x.org called xserver. Both of these are still very much pre alpha tough.
