Refresh rate is too low

I have mandrake and when I am viewing a webpage and I scroll down it takes forever to refresh. However I tried Knoppix and it worked like the main computer I have. The laptop with mandrake has 96 megs of ram and it only has 2.5 megs of video ram. I first thought this was the problem but I soon realized that it was my distro. I am going to upgrade my ram to 200 mbs but I don't know if this will help with the refresh rates. Please offer some knowledge in which I can feed off.

If it's the video performance you're concerned about, it probably has a lot to do with having the latest correct video driver for your video card. Nvidia cards are well supported under Linux; if it's another brand, make sure you have the correct driver in use, rather than a generic VGA driver of some kind.

no its not the video card. I want to know if its faster in knoppix because it runs from ram insted of a swap partion.
