recover lost DOS files
I want to use linux to recover some files lost on a DOS partition which has been accidentaly reformatted in DOS.
files are small ASCII text files Is there a way to do it and which tools should I use? |
Assuming you did not use format /s and you did not run any format utility to zero out everything. Just use a floppy to run FreeDOS and the unformat utility. Do not use wine to run unformat because it may screw up your files.

thank you, i got freedos and will give it a try today.

hi,
I downloaded the freeDOS iso image and booted from the CD, yet I couldnt find any undelete command or function available on it. could you please refer to a specific version i could use? |
sorry i meant to say unformat command.
maybe It works just on the installed FreeDOS and not from the FreeDOS CD. |
