I was sadly rear ended this morning on the way to work and the woman dented my bumper. It pissed me off because she admitted to texting while she was driving and didn't see me (Toyota Tacoma pickup truck sitting dead stopped) and now she messed up my license plate cover and for all people know I will work for Band-Aids...
Man, that stinks. I was rear-ended pretty bad on the highway a few years back. It wasn't the guy's fault, his brakes failed, but still... Never a fun time.

I removed mine because in my opinion it's too annoying. I load so much in my truck and got sick of banging my shins on the damn ball as I load and unload. I shouldn't have to do that especially since small children and animals crossing the road don't have the luxury of bumpers and trailer hitches.
I was recently rear-ended in Denmark on the freeway/tollway, they dented their car more than mine, the guy also had really thick glasses ... I wonder if they were set properly on his nose. There was heavy traffic ahead, I even turned on the hazard lights while braking ... didn't help ... he wasn't paying attention or couldn't see me. Damage was mostly to the license plate.
P.S. Oh, and there was also the time someone rear-ended me during heavy rain and totaled my car ... I was also lucky to have lived ... in fact I wasn't even injured, but had things gone just a bit differently ... I'd be dead.

Well yes, the state of Tennessee says it was automatically his fault since he's the one that rear-ended me... But then again, he was running a truck that was older than I was. Literally.
As long as humans inter act there will be accidents. I do believe accidents would be greatly reduced if a cell phone would shock the user every time he tried to use it while driving an automobile.
As for neglect I have seen brake failures do to defective flex hoses and blown seals that a visual inspection probably would not have caught. These situations are rare but do happen and then there is the one where the person is day dreaming.
I do feel sorry for the op and realize repairs very seldom come up to original standards, but an accident is just an accident.
The license plate is like the software - readable after being hit on.

I have witnessed my parents getting rear-ended many times. On top of this, I am taking a Driver's Ed (but only the written part) course at El Toro High School and yes, we were talking a lot about rear-end collisions and just how bad they can be. Here's some factors that can cause rear-end collisions:
When your speed doubles, your inertia quadruples. This is serious. Say you're driving at 30 miles per hour. When that speed doubles to 60, the amount of distance that you need to stop is multiplied by four. This is why it is so important to slow down and try to stay under the speed limit on the roadway.
Distractions, such as texting, as we all know, can definitely cause events like this. Multitasking can easily double your chances of having an accident, and I read a newspaper article (when that deadly Metrolink crash happened here in California that people say was caused by an engineer texting) saying that doing double-handed focus-stealing tasks like texting actually is more dangerous while driving than drinking alcohol or smoking marijuana! So please, try to save the cell phone for times when you are not operating a moving vehicle.
If you think the HTS is a racetrack, you've got it all wrong. See the first bullet point for the reasons behind this.
People think that if they see a green light they can just go through it. Wrong. You actually have to look to see that the intersection is clear before giving yourself the go-ahead. The reason for this is as follows:
Say you're in an intersection and the light is green, so you assume the intersection is okay and go through it when suddenly: BAM!!! Somebody runs their red light on the intersecting street and plows right into your side. This is why it is so important to look before entering an intersection AT ALL TIMES!!!
These are just some of the tips I have learned so far in school regarding the rules of the road. These rear-end collisions simply come from the other driver not paying attention.

Actually, there is only a rebuttable presumption that it's his fault if he rear-ended you. There are times when someone paying due regard for the circumstances would rear-end another person (insurance scams for one circumstance -- the guy in front cuts in and slams on the brakes to entrap the innocent with a whiplash injury). I was helping someone bleed his brakes and blew out a rusty brake line
he was really pissed at me so I pointed out you said push them hard and I just saved your life
(it was a very old car so it had only one reservoir had he been on the road he would have completely lost his brakes when he would have needed them the most )

inflate your tiers to the maximum on the tiers it improves handling,gas mileage and the tiers last longer (the car will ride a little rougher though)

The only way we're gonna solve this is to take the driver out of the equation. People are just far too creative in coming up with ways to distract themselves while driving to legislate the problem away. Gotta focus on developing cars that drive themselves.

I would never get such a car, see I Robot scene. It's way to easy for someone to tell your car to drive you off a cliff ... you know. I can drive just fine and don't need any machine's help, unless I program it myself.
Replace the badge in the centre of the steering wheel with a large spike, that would make everyone drive more carefully. Issue a git-hammer to all drivers: if someone is driving unsafely, you have the right to jump out and beat the word "git" into their bodywork. That would increase respect among drivers.
As the joke goes:
99% of all car accidents are caused by the nut behind the steering wheel. So I removed mine and drove straight into a tree.
