Thumbs down Rant: MacRumors sucks, Mac people suck, Macs suck.

See here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1055631

Perhaps I am wrong and am at fault, but I've never, EVER been treated that bad here. I've had mini-flame wars about politics and stuff here, but even the people here that hate me most were NEVER that rude when i needed help. As far as i am concerned, I am done with Apple and Mac unless something drastic happens.

EDIT: I just wanted to point out I was the OP of that thread.

They were rude? You have unrealistic (or unclear) expectations in that thread. You were petulant, demanding, petty, and ungrateful.

Also, you were rude:
Quote:
If you guys are so smart, why can't you spell LUXURY correctly?
But from earlier in that post:
Quote:
Your a genius!
Hypocritical there.

It's fine that your problem stresses you out, but you were taking it out on that forum and that's not cool. You should try to calm down, and tone down your attitude of entitlement, before posting (or opening your computer).

Sorry about your computer, but I also think that their responses were within normal forum standards. I don't know what else you were expecting them to do for you? It's a voluntary forum, not a paid Apple support.

I don't hate you

On a serious note though: Perhaps their responses could have been a bit more tactful, but they should have realised that you were a bit flustered after accidentally dropping your macbook.

Though in fairness you should have also tried to control your emotions a bit too.

Emotions aside, a 3.5' drop onto a hard surface actually could have been a lot worse and macbooks are not toughbooks (though I'm sure toughbooks aren't as 'tough' as they are advertised), remember electronics can only handle so much of a sudden impact or any other kind of 'trauma'.

Taking into account that money is an issue here, unfortunately you are in a really crappy position. Even buying a replacement drive for any kind of notebook is pricey, (I was having troubles with my optical drive on my HP notebook, and the replacement drive from HP was $300! ).

It would technically be cheaper to buy a normal-sized optical drive with an external enclosure with USB, so you could go that route... I wish there was better news I really do, but thats the trouble with notebooks (of any brand), when sometime 'borks', replacing/fixing is quite pricey.

Excellent! Finally you're getting a taste of AppŁe, the evil empire with fanboys that will flame to the death to support a company that acts as Big Brother to all its users anyway.

This is a real lesson to *ANYBODY* who even attempts to like AppŁe or its evil products/ruthless fans.

I used to be one of those people who hated you here, but now that's starting to change. Thanks for this thread.

I am closing this on netiquette grounds. We don't complain about other forums here, for the simple reason that we wouldn't like it if other forums bad mouthed us (do unto others....) - that said, we can only control this forum.

I didn't read through the thread on the Mac board, at least, not beyond the first page. I couldn't see any problems with the responses on page 1. If you do feel you were hard done by there I can only suggest that you contact a mod or admin on the site (assuming you still want to be a member there).
