The FBI and DOJ do this sort of thing all the time. They "stung" the Arizona Legislature and came up with some rather embarrassing tapes of some lawmakers greedily throwing hundred-dollar bills all over their offices. (Those lawmakers wear orange jumpsuits now ...)

With all that money running around the drug trade, it's always tempting for law officers to swing to the other side of the law. They forget that such things do get noticed by other law enforcement agencies; that there is actually an interlocking chain of investigation and observation.

It will be very interesting here in New York City after Donald Trump's Attorney General takes over federal law enforcement!! The entire City of New York government is just one big criminal enterprise with everyone taking as much under the table money as possible!!
