Question about posting on these forums...

Hi all,

I'm new to the Linux world and have a quick question about posting etiquite on these forums.

I made the mistake of cross-posting one of my questions from the Ubuntu forum to the Newbie forum because I was receiving no response on the Ubuntu forum. I was seriously chastised by the Newbie moderator and my topic was shut down after a somewhat nasty note about "looking at my past posting history". So I'm wondering if it is possible to request that a post be moved to another forum for which it might be better suited? If anyone knows the rules better than I do please post back to me here. Remember that I'm still pretty new to the Linux world and need some help along the way.

P.S. I'm still looking for help regarding my original posting in the Ubuntu forum...

Hi vinoloco!

Welcome to the forums . The rules can be found here:

www.linuxquestions.org/rules.php

sometimes I also post a thread in the wrong forum. What I do in this case is to click on the button "Report this post to a moderator" and they take care of it.

If your thread has no replies because you found Ubuntu forums empty, don't worry, many members here don't go on every forum, but they ratter use the button "View Threads with 0 Replies". At least that's what I do:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...archid=3811840

and if you absolutely have 0 replies, you've the right to "bump" a thread after a period of 24 hours, so it goes up on the list again. I hardly bump a thread, I prefer it to be on the 0 replies list, but if it takes too long, a bump might be a solution .
