COMPLETELY NON LINUX RELATED THREAD
Just though you'd like to know
.
Here's the problem. On the LAN for my house, there are 3 computers. One is XP/Mandy8.1 dualboot. This has an HP DeskJet 720c printer (parallel connection). Then there's my computer with ME/Mandy8.1 dualboot. This has a very old HP LaserJet IIIp printer (parallel connection). And finally there's my sisters computer, which is simply ME with no printer. Under Windows (read - not tried under Linux) we do not seem to be able to print to eachothers printers at all. I know for a fact that 'file
and print sharing' is enabled, and we can actually see the printers under 'My Network Places' (I still think that name sucks, Network Neighbourhood was better) but it doesn't seem to matter how we configure them, they won't print. I've even tried going into a dos prompt and using 'net' to remap \\DAVE\hp720c to lpt2: in a bid to try and fool my computer into thinking that it's a local printer.
Has anyone else had these problems, and if so, how do you fix them? It is increadibly annoying. It would be nice if it worked properly (erm, sorry, I forgot - its windows, hehe).
Cheers guys (and girls).
