Prayers For My Mom

Just found out today that my mother has cancer for the third time. Naturally I'm pretty bummed about it and she's pretty scared. I had to get a little harsh with her to snap her out of the self-pity thing.

Any prayers, regardless of religious or spiritual belief, would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm honestly I don't know how to react to such posts, but ok, bless her.

Thanks, you can react, or not, as you see fit I suppose. I appreciate the well wishes.

Even we can solve those problem technically, answer those questions fairly, this kind of post can soften every man's heart. Though not quite related, and since we are a family. I wish your MA the best this world can give.. Hang on.. God is not sleeping :)

I lost my Dad to a brain tumor last November at age 62. It's a rough thing to go through. I know this is not a forum for religious discussion, but I will keep her in my prayers tonight.

Sorry to read that about your father, but thanks.

I don't think this falls into the realm of the rule regarding religious discussion per se.

Sorry to hear that and I hope she comes through somehow, but in life things just happen. Best wishes to your family.

Sorry to hear about your mother, Mason. I know it will be hard, but both of you, and the rest of your family and friends, just try to maintain a positive and optimistic attitude.

Thanks guys.

I'll add a few words of my own, if it's ok. I won't be religious here, nor repeat the same sentences others have said; still I feel the same. It's never easy when relatives, close friends or "just" friends get sick. Altough a cancer is not, in my opinion, a sickness, physically it's simply something that's probable to happen in cells: abnormal reaction, things not working right. Don't take me wrong; I'm not a cold person, I just tend to think things in a practical way rather than be overparticular or plain religious. I hope your mom gets over this one too, but in any case, I wish you both luck and strength.

Science, among others, is learning more and more about how to "win" different kinds of cancers, but the cures are still unefficient for most people - if not because of anything else, then money. There are even nanoparticle cures that seem to work (nano-sized magnetic-resonancing "candy" particles are injected to the tumor, which is hungry to eat them, and then the particles are heated with magnetic fields to kill the tumor), but still it's always uncertain.

Best wishes.

Sorry man to hear that. I know how that feeling is. I lost a very close cousin and months later an uncle ...
Both for cancer. It's a really painful disease ... Physically and socially, it's a hard disease.
Hope your mom get well soon.

b0uncer is right: cancer is something probable to happen in cells. However, when this "normal" event occurs among your close relative is difficult to accept it rationally. I spent a terrible year because of a disease caught my father, and I prayed a lot. Things are better now, though not completely sorted, but I know what it means for you.

I will pray for your ma as well, and encourage you to do the same. I also agree with tajamari: God is not sleeping.

Hello,

I am very sorry to hear of your mom's illness. What form of cancer does she have, and how treatable is it? I am a cancer survivor myself as the type of cancer that I had was very treatable (curable) and I caught it early on, so I can understand what she is feeling. It is very, very scary and I can imagine that she is going through a whole range of emotions.

If she hasn't already read the book "Love, Medicine, and Miracles" by Dr. Bernie Siegel than I whole heartedly recommend reading it. It is a book about cancer survivors and the attitudes that helped them overcome the illnesses. It is truly a wonderful book and I found great insights into myself when reading it.

I pray that she gets better, and wish the both of you long, long healthy happy lives!

Thanks again everyone. Don't know the specifics yet, she goes back to the doctor on the 31st for the test results.

Go ahead. Cry.

Help her cry. Help her howl with fear and rage and God knows (He Does!) what else ... Join her.

We are all human too. You (Both) Are Not Alone.

God ... Is Nigh.
