The first thing that went through my mind was; "Ah, you must have a very old computer." And then I read Core 2 Quad q9300... I have to ask this; How insanely fast and responsive is your computer?
And are you doing some serious number crunching with it or do you just use what you are used to (like XMMS, what the hell? :P)...

It is very fast, its my gaming box
4 gigs of ram
hd 4870
asus p5q deluxe
and q9300
I use it just for web browsing and little scripting / compiling (vector)
and gaming (vista 64bit). So no number crunching, except games.
