Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. Actually "a screen which should be shot" sony G400 which flickers and jitters and on which I cannot set the brightness or contrast.
Rounding out the picture: OS by Mepis, keyboard and mouse by Microsoft (these have GOT to go......), DSL modem from Verizon, telephone from ATT (anyone old enough to remember when they sold phones?.. ) speaker from Yamaha (the motorcycle company) statues from Egypt, funny cup from the Olcott House (B&B in Duluth, Minn--across the street from my grandmother's house)
And.......stickies from my wife--who lets me use this computer on occassion....
There!!! almost 1.5 years here and I finally did it......
Yeah, I like it when the window sets on fire and burns away into nothing.

beryl really freaks me out. I took the week off and on monday I thought
I might try and get 3d desktop working... and now I find myself playing
with my desktop for two days in a row. Have't done that since windows98.
