Hello everyone,
I hope some of you already know the Linux vortal called
PolishLinux.org. We are a free-software vortal with focus on
providing decent information about the most popular GNU/Linux and BSD distros out there. Cooperating with GetGnuLinux.org and Nuxified.org we are on a good way to create a group of websites every newbie Linux user should visit (except for LinuxQuestions of course :P)
Ok, that's enough of self-promotion. Here is the main part: As we currently describe 18 operating systems in detail (and a few new ones are coming soon), we need to make sure the content is always up-to-date so that our reader is not misleaded with out-dated information. Cutting a long story short,
we are looking for a few people would would like to cooperate with us (or become full-time team members) to improve the content of the website. We mainly
look for maintainers of the following sections: openSUSE, Fedora, Arch Linux, Xandros, MEPIS, DesktopBSD, PC-BSD and Aurox.
The responsibilities of a mainainer cover updating the distro description when a new release is out, as well as constantly improving the quality of the section (by providing links for latest reviews or other kinds of content suitable for the section). As we are a community vortal, obviously we are talking about volunteer work here. More details about possible kinds of cooperations can be also found on the special page:
Cooperation with PolishLinux.org
Just to clarify a possible misunderstandring: we
do not wish to compete with Distrowatch
- it's a totally different project with different goals. We aim to provide comprehensive and practical information about the leading open-source systems, as well as a
step-by-step guide how to install, configure and use GNU/Linux. We don't want to cover all OS-es, neither we want to provide news about these systems (osnews is doing pretty good at this, no need to duplicate it). If you have any more questions, don't hestitate to leave a comment under this post.
A few important links for the end, so that you know what I'm talking about
:
-
PolishLinux.org - the distro chooser - a quiz helping you to choose the right distro for the start
-
PolishLinux.org - the features comparison - interactive comparison table of leading Linux and BSD systems (includes things like performance, security, installation, localization, etc)
-
PolishLinux.org forum (on nuxified.org) - discussions about the future of the vortal
-
GetGNULinux.org - a friendly project - learn what Linux is and why it is worth using
Best regards,
Borys Musielak
