Plagiarism on LQ.com?
Well, I'll give it to you in short.
I have been accused of plagiarism on two counts from another forum because I submitted a piece of work on their forums that I originally wrote here for the HCL. The first case was for the walkthrough that I put up on the HCL to get the Dell Trumobile 1400 to work under Slackware 10.0 with ndiswrapper. The other was for work that I wrote on my own personal website guiding new users through a full installation of Slackware 10.0 on a Dell 600m. FYI, the username I use on the other forum is the same I use here, snutz411. I understand what the other forum is trying to do...limit plagiarism, but the fact remains that they are accusing me of plagiarising my own work which is completely absurd. Your thoughts/comments? |
you can't plagiarize yourself, have them read up on plagiarism or point and laugh.
|
Are you serious?
If you are, then, "absurd" would be the perfect word. |
To workaround this, I would contact either the admin or a friendly mod on the site and say "this was originally posted by me at LQ - can I also post it here?"
If they are being especially anal about it, I'm afraid there is little you can do. |
Especially since they have control over the site, but what was stated above is true. You cannot plagiarize yourself.

Can I get one of the mods here to edit my HCL post to prove that it was mine?
Here's the link...http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/sh...cat/134/page/1 One of the main reasons I want to prove that it is mine is being the other forum is offering free web hosting if you are an active member on their boards and right now they suspended me. |
Probably best to drop Jeremy an email - I believe that only he can amend the entry.
|
I already did, but I didn't know if any other mods could change it. Thanks
