If I were you I put a sharp pencil in the pocket and if any pickpockets tried to put their hands in your pocket, they get a painful sting. Of course, remember it is there so you don't sting yourself.
Might work with beginners, and those that dont have the skill to be pickpockets. Real 'pro' pickpickets will not even care about a sharp pencil.

If the sharp pencil were to move/turn and you were to fall/run into someone or something ….....
I hate to think what the pencil might prick
Yes. Not really amusing. I just find it strange that people may have such low moral standards. I understand that in certain situations people may be forced to steal food because they're starving but stealing someone else's phone/laptop. Etc. I find it disgusting
Well, actually it might not always be a thief who stole it. I have read a lot of times in newspapers about teenagers stealing these expensive gadgets just because their parents would not buy for them. But fortunately, I have been through this only once, when someone stole my wrist watch from a hotel room where I was staying for a friends wedding. I could not believe that this could happen in a five star hotel.
you took it a bit on words. I mean to say someone who is not a reported offender. I understand the definition. I just cant explain it in words. I aint a native english speaker after all.
