pcx and ico files


How do I create .pcx and .ico files? Do I create as jpeg then rename as .pcx or .ico? Need assistance...

pcx is a paintbrush extension.
ico is for icons.

You need to have a program like The Gimp or any other program convert these, you just can't rename them in most cases.

Also this isn't directly related to Linux, so I'm moving it to General.

By the way, The Gimp can handle both of these file formats..

Can the Gimp save in the file formats? Sorry bout the posting, I thought they were solely linux formats.

Yes, when I say "handle" that means it can open, edit, save in such formats.

And actually .ico are Microsoft Icon Images, at least that's what I've read.

KIconEdit supports both PCX and ICO files too. However as you might have guessed, it's meant only for icons so GIMP would be the best way to go if you are not working on icons.
