PC motherboard/case transfer

My friend has an old emachine (emonster 550) that keeps overheating. I'm looking over it now-it seems to be the power supply output is only 145W-I'm recommending he should upgrade to 350W (it's only a P3/550 MHz with 190 MB RAM). If he decides to trash it, I may wind up with it. It would be a bit of an upgrade in CPU power for me (I have a P3/450 MHz) but a downgrade in RAM (320 MB down to 190 MB). Also, the emachine case is small and I wouldn't be able to fit a 2nd harddrive in there.

My question is that if I bought a larger case that had a power supply on it, how difficult is it to transfer the emachine mother board into the new case?

That would depend on whether it's a proprietary motherboard factor, or if it's a standard motherboard.

If it's a standard motherboard, then you can buy a case that'll take it, replace the PSU, and you won't need to reinstall anything.

If it's a proprietary motherboard, you're screwed.

a dremel, some epoxy and some time, you should be able to make it work. i've made them work on several occasions
