Investing in Opensource or Linux

"SAN DIEGO, Calif. - May 5, 2006 - DivX, Inc. today announced that it has filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering of its common stock. The offering is expected to include shares sold by DivX and by certain of its stockholders. The number of shares to be offered and the price range for the offering have not yet been determined." --press release on divx.com

Today I read an article on tweakers.net (dutch site) about the above press release. And somebody remarked that he didn't want to support a non open standard.

I don't want to get into "that" discussion but it got me thinking.

What WOULD be a good OpenSource company to support financialy?
Which are available and which would be good choices and bad choices?

Please keep in mind that I'm in Europe, I know nothing about stocks, but I am thinking about doing something like this.

Maybe I don't find a lot of information because nobody is interested in these things..
Nevertheless.. Should anybody ever wonder about these same things, this is what I found so far:

BLUEPOINT LINUX SOFTWARE COR BLPT Common Stock OTCBB
--> distributes and supports a Linux-based operating system in China, used in PCs, personal digital assistants, and other electronic devices.
LINUX GOLD CORP LNXGF Common Stock OTCBB
--> Why is this called linux? It seems to be a drilling coorporation.
Open Solutions, Inc. OPEN Common Stock NASDAQ
--> software company, doesn't seem to be opensource related
Red Hat, Inc. RHAT Common Stock NASDAQ 100
--> Distribution
EMC Corporation EMC Common Stock NYSE
--> Owns Vmware
Novell, Inc. NOVL Common Stock NASDAQ
--> Distribution
