OpenOffice.org Mac OSX stable?

I have to find a free or inexpensive word processor for someone who has OS X. It can't be unstable beta software, it is for business. Is OOo on OS X stable? What version should I recommend they install?

I went to their website and I'm pretty sure it is stable because it didn't say it wasn't stable

There is currently an X11 version of OpenOffice.org available for download. You will find the instructions for installing on the OpenOffice.org Mac Porting web site.

An Aqua release is currently in development, we are still looking at a year for a final release. An alpha technology preview version is due in a month or so.

Also check out NeoOffice, which is Open Office ported to the native Mac instead of running on X11.

Neooffice is definitely your best bet. It has semi-native menus and dialog boxes.

OOo for OSX runs under X11, and is decidedly ugly compared to Neooffice.

I use Neo all the time for all my office needs. ALthough the current version is alpha 3, it is perfectly stable.

So carrier pigeons aren't an option?
