after filling out 100+ job applications and getting NO responses, id like to suggest a open source hardware project where users can create application answers and copy past them to all the companies using usb flash sticks and even email the job applications to potential employers. i find filling out applications is an immense waste of time and resources and would like to see this streamlined in my life time. i should be able to program my answers to my name address phone number dob social security id number so on onto a flash drive and recursively paste it to employers.

have software for users to generate database files and have employers have software for them to view applicant pools with filters like "latest applicants" or with features to systematically point them to the most qualified person to fill the job they are seeking to fill. first step to solving a problem, is identifying a problem.

ive been tinkering with some ideas about having college credentials attached to this with colleges hosting checksums to ensure that their transcript is theirs. i petition the linux community to fill this void and create some sort of organizational standardization because they rock.

Hmm . sorry, I can't really see it - there are already plenty of job sites that will host a copy of your resume online to save you time, and shipping a physical flash drive will cost $.

The problem with resumes is that you don't know what type of person is going to read it .. HR, technical, manager .. or whether they're even reading it and not just running a keyword search. My advice to you is to tune up your resume to attempt to get the best possible hit rate -

- keep it concise, people are easily bored
- dense blocks of text are bad, people are lazy
- use bullet points
- use keywords relevant to your experience and the positions you're seeking - cisco, python, active directory and so on.
- say references are available on request, you may want to provide different references depending on the position
- nobody cares where you went to school, leave out irrelevant or out-dated information.

i have my own flash keys, id like to populate them with data to quick and easy apply to places.... manually aggregating database information is not my idea of a good time.... the problem is not having a generally accepted syntax to do this. and i'm referring to the application, not the resume....

...which could also point the other way like what "100+ job applications" means selection-wise, how you responded, etc, etc, but that's not the scope of your post.
