well, there you are then, even better...and, ehm, I think (THINK - dont shoot me on this) that the title really should have read something like:

Needed: external drive as in "spinning disk in a box" and not an extended USB stick

...so the discussion around IDE and/or SATA was...hehe, irrelevant

Go get yerself an external drive, it may have been formatted in ntfs...as was mine so, be prepared to format it to EXTx (x being the favorite number)

I dual boot mainly to Puppy but also have Windows. :-)

It's best to stick with ntfs for my external drive.

Hmm, you have a good point there....this is a detail I tend to lose sight of, as I NEVER use wondows anyway

I keep Windows XP around because some things don't work right in Linux.

For example, some .doc files do not print properly in Linux.

And labels print crooked as well.

And Windows has an image backup program (Macrium Reflect) that is faster than what Linux has to offer. ( by 2X )
