School feeding not only fills stomachs, but has a proven track record of boosting enrollment, attendance and academic performance. For just pennies a day per child, this program changes lives – and ultimately can impact the futures of poor countries around the world in a profound way.
-- Drew Barrymore "There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty more important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and that they can grow up in peace." -- Kofi Annan We’re never going to have respectful and reverential relationships with the planet- and sensible policies about what we put in the air, the soil, the water – if very young children don’t begin learning about these things literally in their houses, backyards, streets and schools. We need to have human beings who are oriented that way from their earliest memories.” -- Elise Boulding "We are asking people to understand that slavery still exists today; in fact, according to a recent New York Times article, if you count the number of women and children in bonded labor, domestic slavery or sexual slavery today, there are more slaves in the world than at any other time in history.” -- Charlotte Bunch If our ... way of life fails the child, it fails us all. -- Pearl S. Buck “and when all the wars are over, a butterfly will still be beautiful.” "A tiger doesn't lose sleep over the opinion of sheep" |

America is a Great Big Lie. There is no truth in what we are told. The entire country, along with that part of the world under Washington’s thumb, is run for about six private interest groups. The rest of us are being fleeced. In America hate and the cultivation of hate is alive and well. But not a single moral virtue is.-Paul Craig Roberts

Love is present everywhere but somewhere it finds total expression. The knowledge of your Self leads you towards that total expression of love. --Sri Sri Ravi Shankar http://youtu.be/P7cvleNdF-g
"Art of War" Everybody has a right to like or dislike anything or anyone. From a flower to a flavor to a book or a composition but it is very sad that in our country we actually fight over such things in an unseemly manner. Pop changes week to week, month to month. But great music is like literature. --Ravi Shankar http://youtu.be/Joyk_EMtzn0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sNdYLDuCAA A lust for the violence is the science of ... behavior. --KRS ONE http://youtu.be/CjhLeHrWVb8 http://youtu.be/MYf5FXyoa-A My objection to the death penalty is based on the idea that this is a democracy, and in a democracy the government is me, and if the government kills somebody then I'm killing somebody. --Steve Earle http://youtu.be/xvaEJzoaYZk http://youtu.be/SAho7YBvitc It's domination pushed into living hell domination a now blacked heart Is reaching out divinity. Body suspended by chains over razors and nails it's a penalty. --Pantera http://youtu.be/K3WmZck5jBY My masters are strange folk with very little care for music in them. If I decide to be an idiot, then I'll be an idiot on my own accord. I worked hard. Anyone who works as hard as I did can achieve the same results. It's easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself. --Johann Sebastian Bach http://youtu.be/ywlmyJgFyCc http://youtu.be/rrVDATvUitA |

I have learned over the years that when one's mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear.-Ms Rosa Parks

I love the infantry because they are the underdogs. They are the mud-rain-frost-and-wind boys. They have no comforts, and they even learn to live without the necessities. And in the end they are the guys that wars can't be won without. -- Ernie Pyle

I've never been convinced that experience is linear, circular, or even random. It just is. I try to put it in some kind of order to extract meaning from it, to bring meaning to it.
--Toni Cade Bambara My neighbor has a circular driveway... he can't get out. --Steven Wright “And out of that hopeless attempt has come nearly all that we call human history—money, poverty, ambition, war, prostitution, classes, empires, slavery—the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than Gods which will make him happy.” ― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity “Disobedience is the true foundation of liberty. The obedient must be slaves.” ― Henry David Thoreau |
I found out a couple of hours ago that the comedian, writer and actor Rik Mayall who was responsible for uttering my more frivolous quote died today. I wish I'd have found a quote from the man himself.
