Newbie advice on how to learn Linux

Hi,

I know that once in a while you may think, "Arrgh! Screw this I'm just going to go and use Windows XP! I give up on Linux!" or “Hmmm...I might boot up Windows XP just to play a game or to use Photoshop”, yet it's so disgusting that in truth you can't bear it, but you also know that you can't live without it because there are some great programs which just don't work on Linux (even with Wine). Therefore, I have come up with some solutions to stopping yourself from the torture of looking at the familiarly hideous Windows XP, and they are as follows:

1) Within the thing that Windows calls a "GUI", go to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and in there, right-click and select “New->Shortcut”. In the first query box, type in “shutdown -s -t 00”, and click “Next”. Then type in “Byebyewindows” into the next box, and then press “Next” and “Finish”. Now all you need to do is shutdown your computer and you'll never see your Windows again *because every time you start it up it will shut straight back down!*

2) Download a pretty Live CD like Knoppix and shove it into your CD drive when you start up your computer, making sure that “CD-ROM” is set to boot before “Hard Disk Drive”. Then, once Knoppix has loaded and *automagically* mounted your Windows partition, double-click on the "Windows" drive folder and navigate to “C:\WINDOWS\system32” and delete the file “shell32.dll”. While you're around there, you might as well delete “boot.ini” (sadly I've forgotten where that is!).

3) Alright, do exactly the same as in 2) except delete EVERY .dll file you can find! And delete any other files which you feel like deleting! Muahhahhaha!!!

I was wondering if you would like to help me enlargen my list of ever-increasing ways to stop newbies wanting to go back to windows because they are finding Linux complicated....This is all part of the learning curve! DESTROY WINDOWS!

Well two better choices are:

1) delete the windows partition and create a linux partition so you can make use of all that extra space.

2) leave windows exactly how it was so it works when you do need to use that program that hasn't a linux alternative.

lol thanks for the contributions, can't believe I forgot that one ctkroeker! Phil.d.g I hope you know this thread is not exactly a serious one....It's just for those who want to express their opinions of how to move to Linux, by destroying Windows (in the most horrible way they can imagine! )
